A New York City-based nonprofit—the Health Equity Project—has launched a new initiative to assist lgbt and commercial sex workers in the West African nation of Ghana, helping overcome a lack of resources and discrimination in accessing healthcare.
Ugandan gays vow to fight new anti-gay, constitutional amendments that outlaw same-sex marriage and criminalize homosexual acts. "The more obstacles these people put in our way, the more successes we are going to celebrate in future," says a member of SMUG, Sexual Minorities Uganda. One silver lining: 111 MPs supported the amendments, but 17 opposed the draconian measures.

Moses Kayiza was arrested, tortured and raped by Ugandan police; he escaped to Britain and was forced into an arranged marriage. After his wife discovered the truth, she called immigration authorities who now wish to deport him. The wife's filing for divorce and calls to immigration are eerily similar to a celebrity divorce that is making headlines.
