Don't you love a survivor? This morning, fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg makes a rare television appearance on Today. We became just a little homesick, because the DVF store-slash-atelier-slash-townhome is just across the street from our West Village apartment. Besides fall fashions, Diane offered some great advice on achieving success: "It's like baking a cake. Lots of ingredients, small steps, lots of love." Don't forget to add that a rich gay husband or two always helps.
Meanwhile, opposite side of the country and totally opposite in taste and style ... Perez Hilton reports Donatella Versace was seen shopping at a Beverly Center pet store. "Donatella and two beautiful, strapping (read:gay) men were accompanying her royal highness. One held her cell phone and one held her purse. Donatella knows how to delegate." The September/October Radar serves a brilliant analysis of Madame Versace: "She seemed an unlikely icon of femininity—neither conventionally pretty or sexy and at times cartoonish. Nevrtheless, her signature hairstyle now graced everyone from Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow to Lizzie Grubman and Chelsea Clinton. Donatella was a survivor. Slammed by tragedy, she armed herself in leather and bling, and lived to party another day."

you LIVE across the street from her store????
*sigh*
Love me some Diane von Furstenberg. She IS the epitome of style, no?
Donatella Versace: GARISH, and occasionally brilliant is how i characterize Versace clothing lines with her as the head designer...
