Not sure have you caught Martha recently, but she's had lots of flava in her kitchen. Patti LaBelle, Anita Baker were recent guests. Today, the very lovely and talented Vanessa Williams stopped by Martha Stewart's studios for some fun in the kitchen. The actress and singer was looking especially fabulous and was accompanied by daughter Jillian Hervey.
Martha and her guests prepared a Teatime Coconut Layered Cake which looks almost sinful. Eleven eggs and almost three cups of sugar. Hmmm. "Now, we're using cake flour which, you know, comes in the box and not the bag," Martha told Vanessa, who prepped the flour and sugar. "Uhhh...yeah," Vanessa said, not totally convincing. "Okay, I know it know."
Vanessa said that she brought Jillian on the show because her daughter hopes to go into the culinary arts. Apparently at only 16 (?) years old, Jillian is already working at a Thai restaurant and has started her own catering business. Hearing Martha and Jillian discuss catering and cooking schools was oddly comforting. How often do you hear from a Hollywood kid who has no desire to follow in mommy or daddy's footsteps?

ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT VANESSA WILLIAMS IS AN ABSOLUTE GODDESS!
SHE LOOKED AMAZING!
SHE WAS WARM AND INVITING AND MARTHA KNOWS WHAT SHE IS DOING! THE SISTAHS ARE MAKING MARTHA COME OFF MORE ACCESSIBLE. PATTI'S BEEN ON TWICE AND SHE AND ANITA JUST KEKEED. IT WAS REALLY FUN, ESPECIALLY PATTI'S FIRST VISIT!
"I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA BE BORED," says Patti, making a snarled, fru-fru, poo-poo face of a New England snot-nosed pedigree.
Martha's response: "THAT'S WHAT YOU READ DEAR. I AM AN EXPERT OF THE GHETTO. TRUST ME."

Thank you for sharing this! I love Vanessa. I wish I could have recorded this show. Great to see her V's growing into beautiful, together young adults. Hopefully she will get back in the studio and release a new cd soon.
