Does your mother know? Of all places, an Italian technology website points to a survey of black gay British men. UKBlackOut—a comprehensive portal to all things black, gay and Brit—is sponsoring the study. The intent: Quantify levels of acceptance within the community. Older data suggest that black gay men may face more negative reactions at home, but, that may have changed. "Happily, the majority of Black men who have completed the Big Up survey so far have said that their mother knows they are gay or bisexual, and the majority of these men have also said that, when she was told, she reacted 'ok' or 'very well'."
Andres at Blabbeando continues his excellent coverage of the investigation into the death of Chad Ferreira, the Latino man beaten to death in the Castro. One suspect pleads not guilty and Ferreira's mother criticizes "authorities for charging the case as manslaughter and not murder."
Rep. Mark Kennedy (R-MN) introduces legislation to ban anti-gay protests at federal cemeteries by Rev. Fred Phelps and followers. Minnesota considers its own bill.
Georgia: Legislature kills hate crimes bill and refuses to honor gay residents.

Rod, thanks for this survey. Every time I go on your site, I am amazed by the amount of information that you are able to find.
