· There's a State of the Union, a State of Black LGBT America and, now, a State of Black Gay Washington D.C. MetroWeekly chats up the recent town hall meeting in the district: "Ranging from alarm to hope, the panelists -- and the questions that followed -- hit upon HIV/AIDS in the community, homophobia in African-American churches, substance abuse, coming out, and self-empowerment -- and that was just for starters." This was the first of several meetings planned around local lgbt concerns. It's a great idea, no? We should have these in every city.
· Many more problems around diversity, the Atlanta Pride Committee, and, charges of racism by Clik. (The magazine is one of Rod 2.0's premium sponsors, y'all know this, but, we don't want to be accused of bias.) Southern Voice reports the unfortunate results of a town hall meeting that was supposed to find common ground but "began with an apology and ended amidst shouting and tears."
· Cameroon: Government refuses to release the nine men acquitted last month on homosexuality charges.
· Jamaica: Dwight Hayden pleads guilty to the brutal 2004 murder of gay rights activist Brian Williamson. Sentencing is in two weeks.
