Apparently, boxers are the new black. If you go to the newsstand and flip the the current edition of many American and foreign gay lifestyle magazines—Genre, Out, the British mag Attitude and the German Mate—there are features on boxers and kickboxing. The recent new and improved Blue—the oversized coffee table Australian magazine devoted to gay culture and the male nude—weighs in with an interesting photoessay.
The images are by Piek, a Dutch-born artists who is well-known for her fashion and travel photos. In Blue+ 61, she contributes a series of digitally manipulated photographs that parody-slash-objectify the over-produced machismo of boxing photos.
There are six or seven photos, emblazoned with boxing themes such as power, vengeance, and muscle. The models are all contemporary boxers, but, the digital manipulation adds a 1950s or 1960s aesthetic.

These are sharp, sexy yet intimidating.
