We almost hate to give publicity whore magnet Michael Lucas any more attention than he already deserves, but, alas, duty calls. Lucas Productions has uploaded the making of their upcoming mega-epic La Dolce Vita onto You Tube and the video is to die for.
First, you get to see Jason Tiya strutting around in next-to-nothing and talking to his costars in a Madonna-inspired, faux British accent. Then, you get to hear Jason complaining to Lucas about his lack of a costume—save for a huge bouquet of Gerber daisies—in that fabulous runway encore. "Jason, darling," Lucas says at about six minutes into the video. "You're a porn star. You're used to working in the nude, no?"

Hmmmm...
Now I LOVE porn, but I am concerned. At least from the video I saw, it appeared that Jason was the only model who was completely naked. It was a little "slave auction" to me. Realizing of course that this was ultimately part of a porn shoot, it was still raised a little flag.

blkarkitect - i had the same thought. wouldn't surprise me if michael lucas had no sensitivity about the historical objectification of black bodies, lucas being russian-born (and a self-declared multiculturalist) and all. still, tho, jason was the *only one*...?

Oh man, that video just ruined Jason as a fantasy guy. He came off as not only extremely effeminate, but as somewhat flighty and bitchy. He went from seeming like Taye Diggs' little brother to being RuPaul. Talking about killing a fantasy.

It's somewhat ridiculous to attempt to deconstruct Jason Tiya's final runway walk in the fashion show scene of "La Dolce Vita" through a racial-historical prism because it's a porn movie. A high concept production, but still, explicitly pornographic and in a strictly theoretical sense, all of the models are being "objectified." However, in that particular scene--as previously reported here--Jason and the models began fully clothed and gradually stripped.
Also, it's unfortunate that some of you are upset that Jason's real-life persona failed to meet the "fantasy" that you constructed from watching porn movies. But that sounds more like internalized homophobia, low self-esteem, and, stereotypical concepts of black masculinity.
Not sure why random posts about porn and shirtless men tend to bring out so much "historical" analysis. There are more pressing issues which many people routinely choose not to comment upon, such as HIV, homophobia, politics and the courts.

Rod, I'm glad that you came in to co-sign "FF" and "Michael" and make a statement about these silly comments. Why do so many gay men act bitchy themselves but are so darn quick to say they find any sign of effeminancy (sp?) a turn-off or any man who is not uber-masculine? Enough already, let's enjoy all types of gay men, not silly fantasies based on porn movies.

Hey guys, I work for Lucas- about the race thing- we WISH more hot black guys would audition! That's the problem, my guess is that there is more homophobia in the black community so less black guys are out or willing to come in for auditions ... really I don't know ... but that's the case.
