CNN's John King reports Florida Sen. Mel Martinez will become the new chairman of the Republican National Committee. Sen. Martinez will remain in office and serve as the party's primary spokesman as well as take a major role in fundraising and political outreach.
Martinez was born in Cuba and emigrated here as a child. He will be the first Hispanic chairman of the RNC and will reach out to those voters because Republican gains among Hispanics evaporated in Tuesday's elections, mostly due to harsh rhetoric on immigration. In 2004, when President Bush was at the top of the ticket, an estimated 44% of Hispanics cast Republican ballots. This years, the figure dropped to 29%.

Well, the Republicans didn't get a black because they knew we weren't buying their BS.
You stay on top of everything, I love it.

wow, amazing how fast you are on this news! the only latinos he will get into the fold are the ones who have shunned thier heritage.not impressed with anything about him, just glad that he can't become president. the ones with a clue see right through the gop. the one thing i still don't get with the gop is that they have not realized that blacks are some of the most conservative folks around on moral issues, too bad the hypocrites don't see that thier hatered of fairness and equality on social issues is what keeps them at 10% of the black vote.
