GOP Opposes Flu Shots for Poor Seniors, African Gays, 50 Cent
· Houston Mayor Bill White halts flu vaccinations at early voting sites in predominantly black and Hispanic neighborhoods. The program didn't require recipients to vote and was available to anyone aged 50 or older. Health officials wanted to reach people in medically underserved communities but local Republican Party leaders say this was "completely motivated" to turn out Democratic voters.
· 50 Cent is ready to settle down.
· African leaders should fight hunger, not homos. Washington Post essay argues that if leaders attacked poverty and disease with "the same single mindedness and energy as they go about crusading against gays and lesbians, the continent would be a much better place."
· Speaking of gays and lesbians in Africa, here's a wonderful update to our story about the growing activism in Mozambique. In contrast to other African nations, the former Portuguese colony is slowing showing signs of becoming pro-gay. The Mozambican Human Rights League recently sponsored the nation's first forum on gay rights and the ruling Frelimo may party sponsor legislation to decriminalize homosexuality.
Update: Not sure why, but the hyperlink to our first Mozambique post will never display. Go here, it's the next post.

The repungants just don't stop to win an election. But, the one thing they forget, is that the seniors, black and Hispanic are going to usually vote no matter what, its the young ones who don't, they are really, really desperate this year. Let people get sick and over run the hospitals to stay in office, what kind of sick, demented logic is that? As for "fiddy" looking to settle down, maybe he should go back to jail and look for someone compatiable!

The intentions may have been well but IMO nothing should happen at a polling site but voting.

Houston Mayor Bill White thinks the way to fight fire with fire is take away medicine from the poor. If he wanted to level the playing field, how about offering more medicine in areas where his constituents are likely to vote? Apparently, Republicans don't think like that.
