This should not come as a surprise. Last week, leading right-wing Christian Pat Robertson endorsed the presidential campaign of Rudy Giuliani. This week, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee gets a major boost from another influential right-wing Christian: Donald Wildmon, the Mississippi-based founder of the American Family Association who has led national boycotts against corporations for their pro-gay policies and "once accused Mighty Mouse of teaching children to snort cocaine."
"I feel that Governor Huckabee understands the needs of our country and has the ability to lead us in meeting those needs," said Wildmon, who added that his endorsement was personal and did not represent an official endorsement from the family association.
Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor, is a Baptist minister. Last week, three former presidents of the Southern Baptist Convention endorsed his candidacy.
This is a very interesting crowd. Albert Mohler, the current president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, has suggested pregnant mothers should be able to "undergo hormonal treatments [to] change the baby's orientation to heterosexual" if genetic markers suggest the fetus will grow up to become gay. So much being "pro-life" and respecting God's will.

These endorsements are just weird, and keep getting weirder, although, a homophobe, at least Huckabee doesn't seem to have the total disdain and hatred of blacks that like Rudy. Its a no win situation for gays and blacks with all these GOP canidates, but, this one might carry some clout with the rabid, foam at the mouth base of the GOP.

Hey, maybe if Thompson gets the top spot, this man can be his VP and we'll see the "Thom and Huck 08" bumperstickers.
Seriously, let the GOP run the scariest meanest candidate they can. It will alienate the middle and the Dems can be saved from screwing up yet another chance at the Executive Branch.
