Don Imus to Guest: "Why Don't You Like Huckabee? Are You Gay?"

Well, that was fast. Barely two weeks after returning to the airwaves after being forced off for racist and sexist comments against the Rutgers University Women's Basketball team, syndicated radio host Don Imus returns to gay-bashing.

2007_12_13_imus During an interview with conservative Boston radio personality Jay Severin, the controversial radio host demanded to know why Severin was supporting Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney over former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huickabee. "Why don't you like Huckabee?" Don Imus asked Severin. (Video and transcript at Media Matters.) "Because you're gay or what?"

Severin attempted humor and responded, "I'm very happy, yes, and I would think that would make me like Huckabee." Later, the conservative radio personality replied to an email from the Boston Herald and proclaimed his heterosexuality by suggesting he was "only too happy to submit myself for a ‘field test’ with Gisele [Bundchen] and any of her friends, if you can arrange it."

We'll take your word for it, Severin. Just as an fyi, Imus hired black female and male co-hosts. presumably to rubber-stamp his crude remarks. Neither publicly opposed these comments, so, it seems Imus is getting his money's worth.

Comments

OK that's it I'm buying stock in ABC and raising hell at the shareholders meeting. Has this man no decency?

is there any outrage with the so called "gay establishment" like they have when others made this sort of nasty remark , or is it selective when the person spewing the hateful remarks are from an old fool?
