It's been at least several weeks since news of Bow Wow and Omarion, so, here is the latest on "teh internets." One of the coeds on BET's "College Hill" releases a statement saying that she is not dating Bow Wow. When reporting the denial, EURweb.com, the major black lifestyle, news and entertainment portal, also addresses the speculation surrounding Bow Wow and his BFF. Or, maybe the BF.
"For months, the black blogosphere has been rife with talk that Bow Wow is gay and dating R&B singer Omarion. According to blogger Sandra Rose, someone in Bow Wow's camp denied the rumors and stated that Ashley R., a 21-year-old marketing major, is Bow Wow's girlfriend.
Not so, says Ashley."
The reality tv "star" says that she and the brown-eyed rapper-actor and Flaunt model "went out a few times as friends several years ago, but it was nothing more than that."
As far as Sandra Rose's reliability is concerned, well, let's not go there. In January, she did link to our story of the Omarion interview in Vibe (PDF) where he said he liked "wearing tight jeans to show off [his] figure, but, the quote was incorrectly attributed to an alleged BET interview. (All this publicity for BET, maybe she's a publicist?) The gossip blogger also wrote "gay chat rooms lit up like Christmas trees" at the site of Omarion's tight pants, and, posted a comment from one of our regular readers. Not cool. With this tabloid track record, it's quite possible Bow Wow's camp never said the lil rapper was "dating" the reality star.
Maybe it's time to give this cute lil couple their space ...

Oh, snap. Sandra Rose is among the worse black bloggers. She has has gay drama and is worse than Wendy Williams. This is crazy, she links to story and twists the facts to give BET publicity.

Awww, Bow Wow and Omarion are such a cute couple. It was only a matter of time before the faghag gossip bloggers started with them.

The implication, of course, is that Bow Wow manufactured a girlfriend to keep the rumors atr bay. But he has been associated with dating many young women, like Ciara. FWIW, I still think he and Omarion are a couple, but Sandra ROse is very ridiculous. She often steals from this site.

Maybe we need to hear from B&O directly, no publicists, no second hand stories.

Why is it important? If they are a romantic "couple" the media scrutiny (and hostility to all things black, male and gay) will destroy the relationship. If they're not a couple and are "just friends" and colleagues (which I believe to be the case) this intense media scrutiny will probably destroy the friendship. Why can't everyone just leave both of them alone to do whatever it is they're doing.

Ah yes, the concern trolls, "please leave them alone." Hmm. I think that's what Rod just said. But, for the record, EUR, Perez Hilton and the gossip magazines reach many more people than this site.

I used to love it when I plucked a piece of trade built like Omarion. There was so much to enjoy beside the obvious. You know, body assets to squeeze, rub, massage & even more (if they were very, very, very clean). When I "worked" a little skinny piece like BowWow, I just thought, "Oh, well, maybe I'll find something to grab."

Can we say a little graphic Derrick? LOL!

How come when I saw this headline I automatically thought of Dorian on the College Hill show? I shouldn't have, after all the boy said he wasn't gay.........;-)

lol @ "the concern trolls!"
As I was reading this, I was thinking somebody would say 'why not just leave them alone!'
And, Derrick, you're one of a kind, bro.

I'd rather be a "concern troll" than a "gossip troll" (or gossip queen), one of the things I've always hated about some gay men. And I know a lot of gay men who feel the same way.
Posted by: elg | 02 April 2008 at 14:06
ELG, how is this gossiping if it's REPORTING what is already in the news? And CORRECTING a gossip bloggers take on this story?
And yes, of course, everyone online and everyone who reads gay blogs NEVER, EVER gossips or speculates.
I'm not trying to present a "politically correct" internet facade. I like news, politics, opinion, and, yes, gossip, too. I actually like this blog, its one of the very few gay or black gay blogs that is no almost entirely gossip or innuendo.
Posted by: Chris CW | 02 April 2008 at 14:20
Umm, Chris CW, please stop shoutting in caps and "ELG" never said he didn't like the blog, I think he was agreeing that that the storyline has become counterproductive.

re: gossiping gays,
My workplace is 98 % female, and those women gossip like there's no tomorrow.
My barbershop is 100 % hetero, and those brothers gossip worst than the women.
I'm not going to wring my hands and worry about how gossip effects Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, Bow Wow & O, or anyone who chooses to put their lives in the spotlight. They're big kids and can handle themselves. How is it counterproductive to give these attention whores exactly what they want: attention, good or bad?
Posted by: Seahawk | 02 April 2008 at 15:10
I'm totally with Seahawk on this one. Men gossip about women, women gossip about men, and everyone chits chats about celebrities and celebrity culture.
If Bow Wow or Omarion didn't want public approval, they could take barrista jobs at the local Starbucks. Bow Wow was involved in a well-publicized affair with Ciara, so, its not like he tries to keep his private life private.
Posted by: Rod McCullom | 02 April 2008 at 15:44
Don't they both have new projects out soon? Seems like all this speculation and such is keeping them in the news, as it were. "There is no such thing as bad publicity".

OMARIONS BODY IS CRAZY. THERES FEELINGS BETWEEN THE TWO OF THEM. YOU CAN SEE IT WHEN THEY LOOK AT EACH OTHER. BLACK LOVE IS A BEAUTIFUL THING!
