Human Rights Campaign Blasts McCain's Gay Rights Record

It's been an interesting week of anti-gay antics on the campaign trail with presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain. Earlier this week, the Arizona Republican appeared with country singer John Rich, who once compared same sex marriage to incest. On the same day, the senator received a standing ovation after reiterating his opposition to "same sex marriage" and for the "in the sanctity and unique status of marriage between man and woman." As the applause began, McCain added "That's what I believe, that's what I support, and that's what I will fight for."
Now, the Human Rights Campaign releases a scathing new report on the senator's record on gay rights. The six page report, Senator John McCain: A record of opposing the interests of LGBT Americans, includes sections on McCain's record on LGBT civil rights, the treatment of same-sex couples, workplace discrimination, and other policy areas of interest to the LGBT community. HRC warns against buying into the "maverick McCain" meme often parroted by the McCain groupies in the mainstream media.
HRC's VP of Programs David Smith says, "Judging by his record, a McCain presidency would be another four years of more of the same. Similar to Bush, Sen. John McCain opposes equal benefits for same-sex couples; opposes the Employment Non-Discrimination Act to prohibit discrimination against GLBT Americans in the workplace; opposes expanding the hate crimes act to include sexual orientation and gender identity, and supports the military’s discriminatory Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy."
McCain is (allegedly) running as a kinder, gentler conservative but he is courting the far right and social conservatives. McCain recently distanced himself from Revs. John Hagee and Rod Parsley but said nothing about their outlandish homophobic vitriol. Apparently, anti-gay views are still acceptable to the conservative rank and file.

It's so intriguing that with all that is going on in the world and in the Democratic Party and in politics that McCain has figured out, through the help of the Ridicublicans, to bring gay marriage to the table as a benchmark issue!
He is a vile, bass-ackwards, richpandering, racist, war monger and any time I hear a gay man or lesbian say that they will vote for him before they'd vote for Obama, my skin creeps and crawls. That's like voting to put ourselves into slavery. It's a mentality that is so confusing that I pity the speaker.
FALWELL.
HAGEE.
PARSLEY.
McCain is unforgiving in his associations with and pandering to The Religious Right. They are running to this base because they are FREAKING OUT over how Obama has drawn so many to the table and they are scared that WE MIGHT ACTUALLY SHOW UP IN NOVEMBER, so they are pulling out these archaic conversations so that they can rile the old ladies and fanatics to the polls. BUT WE WILL ALREADY BE THERE, VOTING AND CHANGING THE LANDSCAPE OF AMERICA FOREVER!
I say it now louder than ever:
I AM FOR A MCCAIN-FREE AMERICA!
