Kennedy Released from Hospital
Good news to start off Monday morning. Within the last hour, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy flew home to Hyannis Port, Massachusetts after recuperating from brain surgery at Duke University in North Carolina. The procedure to the malignant brain tumor was performed last week and doctors said it was "successful."
Sen. Kennedy's office released a statement this morning which reads, "His doctors are pleased with his progress since surgery a week ago, and he will continue to recuperate at home before starting the next phase of his treatment. He is thankful for the extraordinary care of the doctors and nurses at Duke, and also for the continued prayers and well wishes from the people of Massachusetts and all over the country."
In addition to being one of the nation's most progressive legislators, Ted Kennedy is a longtime friend to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Last month, Kennedy introduced a Senate version of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). Kennedy has also co-sponsored the Matthew Shepard Hate Crime Act, which passed the House last May and the Senate in September and expressed interest in sponsoring the Senate version of a bill to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", the ban on gays and lesbians serving openly in the military.
Let's send good thoughts and good vibes to Teddy.
Thanks ANTHONY
