McCain Israeli Ad Campaign Links Obama to Ahmadenijad

Spotted in the Jerusalem Post and on the front page of the newspaper's website: John McCain's half page print ads and interactive web ad campaign asks juxtaposes an image of Barack Obama and the controversial Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadenijad , asking Israeli citizens, "Is it okay to unconditionally meet with anti-American foreign leaders."
McCain's Israeli advertising campaign comes two weeks after a strategist suggested a terrorist attack would help their campaign. More importantly, the ads debut the same week Iranian state-run media report the Iranian Revolutionary Guard test-fires "nine missiles, including one which Tehran claims has the range to reach Israel." The missile test comes the day after Iran threatened to strike Tel Aviv and American interests if attacked by Israel or the U.S.

Politics and doddering old republicans aside,
Iran has every right to say that if attacked by the US or Israel that they will strike Tel Aviv. Totally understandable to me.
Futhermore, though I don't want them to have nukes any more than anyone else, it is pretty cocky of America to go around the world telling others which weapons they can and can not have.
If I were Iranian, I would resent the hell outta that.

It is absolutely not a coincidence that McCain launches an Israeli advertising campaign this week. McCain and Bush hope to ramp up the tensions. But this is not playing the fear card. Israel has very real concerns over threats of an Iranian attack. This is a real issue in Israel.

Just remember: McCain thought it was perfectly OK to sell weapons to the current Iranian government when Reagan did so as part of the Iran-Contra deal.
So I guess, for McCain, giving the Iranians weapons is just fine, but talking to them in public is not.
Someone really needs to skewer this hypocrisy. I wouldn't hold my breath, though, for the Democrats ever to do so.
I am not generally a conspiratorialist, but it would not surprise me one bit if the current U.S. administration were paying big, big money to Iranian government officials in exchange for their helping to keep tensions high between Iran and the U.S. All the better to keep oil prices high, Halliburton wildly profitable, and the American people fearful and susceptible to right-wing propaganda.

This advertising is very much in line with the pushed claim that Obama is a secret Muslim. Total BS - yes, surprised - no.
