An excellent day for the United States track and field team in Beijing. Angelo Taylor, the Olympic champion in Sydney 2000, lead a medals sweep in the 400-meter hurdles and Stephanie Brown Trafton won a surprising gold in the discus.
Taylor ran a personal-best time of 47.25 seconds, ahead of teammates Kerron Clement and Bershawn Jackson, who took the silver and bronze respectively in 47.98 and 48.06. This is first sweep of the event since the United States did it in 1960.
Many more photos AFTER THE JUMP.
The win is especially sweet for Taylor who failed to make the final in Athens four years ago, and, has been largely out of the spotlight. Taylor had largely given up on the sport and had been working in construction.
Here's a great pic of Taylor and Bershawn enjoying the moment, and, then the medals shot. Gotta love the talented and bulging boys on the American track team. Go USA.

That was a lovely moment between Angelo and Bershawn. They actually kissed each other on the cheek, very touching. Great athletes.

I love watching athletes embrace and celebrate. It's so pure and they feel so uninhibited.

ff, you are so right about Walter Dix. I was at work watching the 100m and Walter stood up and turned around, I almost gasped out loud in front of everybody! I felt bad for Asafa though. That third leg of his finally got in the way, lol!

Im happy for Angelo Taylor. He was arrested in Atlanta for having sex with a 15 year old girl a few years ago. He had to take a job in construction after his sponsors didnt want anything to do with him.
He is back after all that. Good for him.
