Today, President Barack Obama arrived in Canada, his first foreign trip since taking office. Enthusiastic crowds have greeted the president at every step of his journey. "Cheered on by more than two thousand flag-waving spectators," reports the Toronto Star. "A smiling U.S. President Barack Obama paused to wave to the crowd on Parliament Hill as he arrived for talks with the Canadian government this morning."
"Not even an early morning snowfall could deter diehard fans of the popular U.S. leader as they lined up at a security fence in keen anticipation of his arrival at Parliament."
Think Progress notes Obama's trip to Canada "is a stark departure from the Bush years" when the former president's trips were marked by "massive, violent protests."
