It's been more than a month since Rod Blagojevich was ousted from the Illinois governor's mansion and he refuses to go quietly away. A publicist for the disgraced former governor says Blagojevich signed a six-figure deal and will write a book "exposing the dark side of politics." Something he should know plenty about.
The book will detail how Blagojevich selected President Barack Obama's successor in the U.S. Senate. [The publicist] says Blagojevich's book will tell the truth and will reveal information "that will at times be embarrassing to himself as well as to others."
Blagojevich's book will be published by Phoenix Books and released in October.
The book deal announcement has outraged some state legislators. One lawmaker has introduced legislation to bar corrupt government officials from profiting from their misconduct. The bill would require officials "convicted of misconduct to forfeit any payment" for their stories—so they couldn't make money from book, TV or movie deals.
The legislation would not cover Blagojevich because he has not been convicted of anything. Yet.
