Super producer, rapper and fashionista Kanye West continues to publicly explore his sexuality .. whatever it may be. Kanye blasts gossips who speculate about his sexuality—you know what they have said—and insists his "manhood" should "never" be questioned.
The Stronger hitmaker, whose engagement to fashion designer Alexis Phifer ended in 2008, has long been dogged by rumors he is secretly gay. Having previously slammed the "disrespectful" claims, West is furious about new rumors his relationship with model Amber Rose is just for show.
In a rant on his online blog, he writes, "I know my life is the Truman Show for everyone to judge and comment on but I'm not doing a reality show. I'm not doing anything 'for the camera'!"
"I have some ego problems, b**ched out at award shows, have control issues and make some questionable fashion choices but never question MY manhood. This is a message to everybody out there!"
The stylish producer-rapper has criticized hip-hop for being obsessed with gays and gay-baiting, calling attention to rampant homophobia in rap, hip hop and the 'hood. West has admitted to having "feminine ways", "an issue with masculinity" and projecting his own insecurities, creating discussion around homophobia and hip-hop.
The only problem here is his word usage, i.e. "manhood." Last month Kanye West dismissed gay-baiting and told MTV he is "secure in his manhood." Now he says "never" question it. We're all men, straight or gay, but unfortunately in the 'hood "manhood" is supposed to mean masculinity and/or heterosexuality. "Questioning" someone's "manhood" implies they are gay and that is a huge dis.

I find his antics to be way too extra ... he needs to sit down somewhere and shut his mouth.
Posted by: S. Flemming | 31 March 2009 at 13:05
Thanks, Kanye. We understand you are straight but admit you are not very masculine but don't want to be confused with being gay.
Now please go sit down.

LOL @ Aaron
he is becoming so annoying. Like a btch.
Observation: he is obviously battling how to keep sexuality and satisfy everyone else. One moment he's explaining his mannerism, next he saying lets hold hands with all the gays, next he's not gay and his ball-headed girlfriend makes him hetero, next he getting dress by the gay french w/ his "boys", next he engaged to get married, next he's dropped his fiance cause they dressed alike! GIVE ME A BREAK!!
Will someone give this man so d**k or azz? Where is Jay-z when u need him? Can't ya'll kiss each other thru da phone? Or cybersex on the cam? Jigga help dis confused boy out. Get him on the right d**k [cough] track and keep him there.
Posted by: K-mark | 31 March 2009 at 13:53
K-Mark, I think I would agree with you on this one. The boy is wearing himself (and all of us) out as he goes back and forth every day on this gay kick. I think he is trying to prove something to himself. Or someone lol

The brother said he's struggling so he's gonna have some missteps and he's not gonna be perfect lift him up where he is and help him to move further.

Lol @ all the responses! You guys had me weak!-QH

I actually appreciated the conversation he began on gays and homophobia in our community. But he is dominating the discussion by with his stream of consciousness. This should be a discussion "we" should be dominating but most black gay men are not out and prefer closet.
And yes "manhood" is just the wrong word but it is the word our community often associates with sexuality.

"he's not gonna be perfect lift him up where he is and help him to move further."
what are you talking about? it's not our job to "lift up" kanye west. lol this isn't romper room. and he's doing extremely well on his own.
but he does happen to have this public discussion on gays and homosexuality that many of us are interested in because WE are gay and he says he is NOT. so obviously we are concerned about his message.

OK, this is where he loses me. Either you are completely forward thinking when it comes to sexuality, or you're not -- not this half way crap. Truthfully, I don't care if he's gay or not, but I was hoping that he could pave a new path in the rap world regarding homophobic views. When he makes comments that people shouldn't question his manhood, he destroys whatever progress he had previously made.
Well, I've got news for him. I'm unapologetically gay and my manhood is very strong. I've got more manhood than him because I can be who I am without fear and insecurity. I don't give a damn what others think, and I will tell them to their faces. Two men once tried to make me the victim of a gay bashing, but I turned the tables on them and beat their asses. As I always say, "The problem with gay bashing is that sometimes gay people bash back."
Kanye needs to get over himself. I used to give him the benefit of the doubt because I think that he's still struggling to cope with the sudden death of his mother. I don't think he has given himself the necessary time to grieve and vent his anger over her death. But enough is enough. Grow up and get a life. The only person questioning his "manhood" is himself. Most gay men I know aren't feeling him at all. I'm not saying it to knock him, but it's the harsh truth.
K-mark is exactly right. He needs to get some from another dude. And, in the interest of folks who are sick of his constant ramblings, I will volunteer and give him a complete roto-rooting.
Posted by: Ravenback | 31 March 2009 at 14:48
K-mark you are absolutely positively correct. This is like a mating call. I think he needs LL or someone to break him off some and get it over with, cuz gay sex is always on his mind.

--->The only person questioning his "manhood" is himself.
YES! It is a classic case of projection. Kanye is internally questioning his masculinity and sexuality and chooses to broadcast this.
Everyone else is receiving the signals loud and clear. No matter how many bisexual porn stars he hires to be seen with him.

Ooh, trying to butch it up and sound rough.

….o.k. Kanye….I will not say that you are Gay anymore….I will just that you strongly display feminine tendencies….
Posted by: Antwan | 31 March 2009 at 15:52
OK, so he’s a huge celebrity and we can question everything but his manhood? Did those bloggers strike a nerve Yeezy??? I don’t beleive for a second that Kanye is gay but his defensiveness has very homophobic undertones, something that Kanye has openly advocated AGAINST. I think he’s walking a thin line on this one

Really. How man times has he came out with this ‘I am not gay mess’.
Stop walking around dressing like you are trying to bring back the 80’s and wearing these ridiculous cloths that you call fashion…then maybe someone will stop marking you as gay.
Posted by: Ten in My Timbz | 31 March 2009 at 16:13
Ten in Timz:
Just leave him alone- its called self expression and who are we to say he’s gay? Like Prince- or Michael- or Busta Rhymes- or Kravitz (Lenny)- or JUstin Timerlake- Andre 3000- they all have a different style- different swagga- that honestly most men cant pull off- but they can. So stop hatin- especially dudes on here who live in white tee’s and TIMBERLANDS not very exciting imho
Posted by: Sean B | 31 March 2009 at 16:38
Daqwan, we aren't hating on him. Most of us are tired of him claiming that he's not homophobic, but sending out signals to the contrary. He's being a hypocrite. It's like a white person claiming to be inclusive of blacks, then we find out that he regularly uses the "n"-word when talking about us. That's being a hypocrite. As stated earlier, I don't care one way or the other if he's gay. But don't criticize others for being homophobic and then turn around a get upset because some people think that he's gay. I don't hear him getting upset because some people think that he's an ass, though.

Kanye needs a man and a good hard d*ck. He needs to embrace his "feminine ways" and get on some d*ck. That will calm him down.
You see Pharrell is a loot quieter nowadays, except when he couldn't get a Big Mac, lol.
Posted by: TB | 31 March 2009 at 16:55
Let me say this again! Kanye needs to embrace his "feminine ways" and get on some d*ck.
Posted by: TB | 31 March 2009 at 17:01
I agree with Ravenback...no "hating" on Kanye, he is just going into overdrive on this gay issue and not looking very good.
You can't criticize someone's homophobia and then get insulted if peeps think you is gay.
