The non-stop "grind" pays off for Spectacular, the lead singer (and body) for Pretty Ricky. The R&B boyband was dropped by Atlantic Records in May and now announces they will not pursue another major label deal due to the success of the independently-released single "Tipsy In Dis Club", according to the trades.
Radio Facts reports the single is "Number Two Most Added at R&R" and in heavy rotation at clubs "due to the group’s grassroots marketing approach and the support of their loyal fan base." No doubt, that "grassroots marketing approach" included Spectacular's blockbuster YouTube, where he stripped down to tight salmon briefs and challenged Chris Brown, Bow Wow and other male teen idols to a "grind off."
After denying the video was homoerotic—really?—and insisting the content was "for the ladies only", Spectacular returned to the YouTubes for another strip show, this time in tight boxer briefs. Both videos featured Sexy Spec stripping to "Tipsy" as the song and videos went viral.
AFTER THE JUMP, watch the "grassroots marketing approach" as demonstrated by Sexy Spec (Twitter: IamSpectacular). Both videos are included and the denial. Spec can chart his future as as a gogo boy or an e-marketing hotshot. Or both. Does the song's success mean Spectacular will not be tempted to take that $100,000 to pose nude for Flavamen (nsfw)? We shall see ...

And black music plunges further into the dark ages. Wow. I'm all for all types of music, but this stuff is hot garbage, it doesn't even turn me on, lol. Thank God for my CD collection.-QH

Maybe if someone sat this little pendejo down and explained to him Big Daddy Kane and Hector Camacho posed for Playgirl back in the day knowing full well more men than women bought those mags he would see he has far more to gain by "exposing" himself than keeping it under wraps.
For every female fan they lost they would gain sales from 10 gay black men.
I find it hard to believe he can "harm" himself anymore than what he has already done. The memory of the overall public last no more than a millisecond anyway and the publicity alone will boost sales.

I hope they are successful independently, since the biz has changed.

i am shocked he hasn't take the money to do the nude pics already lol

Maybe he won't pose nude because he suffers from "stage fright". Perhaps he's "gun shy". Don't show up at a gun fight with a pocket knife.

@Ravenback. If I translated that correctly (and I am pretty sure I did) all I can say is "OUCH".
And people have the nerve to call me vicious.

For $100K, he will do it!!!

First, who the hell is this person? He looks like a 10 year old who overdosed on his Flinstones vitamins. Well, sexiness is in the eye of the beholder so I'll just scratch my head and leave that one alone.
As for the music, we are in a Dark Ages right now; think Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire. I heard a song on the radio yesterday called "Birthday Sex". It was so stupid that it actually made me angry. It truly was offense to soundwaves. In such a cultural climate, Mr. "Spectacular"s ummm....'song' should be number one before I finish writing this sentence.

I'm glad to see the changes taking place in the music industry. Individuals and groups are being forced to be creative to get their music heard. There are a lot of exciting independent artist coming out. I rarely listen to the radio other than NPR so the new music I hear is often from independent artist.
Hopefully people will seek out the music they enjoy on the internet and support those artist. Pretty Ricky isn't for me (because I'm a grown ass man/Garage/house head) but I'm glad the kids who enjoy their music are supporting them.

Well. Got to hand it to him. He's hot and the viral vid worked out. Nice to see a sexy, young man with some ingenuity.

@Freelo. Very well said. Thank you.
I try giving hip-hop the benefit of the doubt but find the majority of it a bit testing on the nerves, to put it mildly.

I knew PRETTY made history with his grinding youtube video! The anti-gay reaction was swift and demeaning, but guess what, the public has come out the closet and admit they like it!
@FREELOW, be careful of NPR also. According to Parenti: PBS: the Petroleum Broadcasting System.
"Public funding only represents 3%"
70% of PBS's prime time shows are funded in major part by the 4 major oil companies.
Guests on NPR and PBS are as ideologically conservative or palely liberal as anything on major networks.
And public affairs programs are underwritten by the major corporations.

Spec's partner 4-Play is the really sexy one in the group. Taller with a rocking body.

Thanks Wil, but the station I listen to in Los Angeles is KCRW. They get their news from NPR which I actually think is a bit liberal leaning, and that's fine with me. The other programming is member supported. The dj's decide what music they'd like to play. Check them out.

I'm sorry to any of you out there but I just keep thinking how well hung he must be. I was in the 8th grade when "Grind with Me" came out and now out of High School. Man, I would love to be nailed by that.
Just my fantasy.
