Over the weekend, the IAAF World Championships in Berlin will showcase some of the finest track and field athletes from Europe and the Americas. One athlete sure to be on, err, prominent display at the Triple Jump will be Portugal's bulging export Nelson Evora, who is more popular in his nation than Cristiano Ronaldo and on track to become the first man ever to conquer two consecutive World gold medals in the men’s Triple Jump.
Last summer Evora won Portugal's first ever gold medal (above) in a field event when he captured the world title in the men's triple jump. The 25-year-old University of Lisbon student tells the IAAF he hopes to repeat his success by emphasizing speed: "The triple jump is a very complex event, and you always have to be trying to improve in every way, but just now I am working mainly on my speed, although strength must never be forgotten."
Nelson Evora, who is certainly fit in all the right places, hopefully slows down for some activities. WHEN YOU JUMP, more of the bulging triple jump world champion, as seen below at the recent European Team Championships in Leiria, Portugal. Evora's closest competitor will be fellow Rod 2.0 fave and British track hotness Phillips Idowu, who posed nude in last summer's advertising campaign for Powerade. Set your TiVos. Thanks KEVIN M!
