Allyson Robinson, the first transgender staff person at the Human Rights Campaign, takes to Twitter to report the events at last night's vigil for Ty'lia "NaNa Boo" Mack. Washington D.C. police are offering a $25,000 reward for the person who fatally stabbed the 21-year-old transgender woman in broad daylight.
Transgender activist Mara Kiesling adds: "Pouring rain. Large crowd. Beverly, her mother is very strong."
Newschannel 8 reports the "DC transgender community is "outraged" after Wednesday's incident. A witness tells the Washingtom Blade that NaNa Boo and a friend, who was also stabbed, were attacked as they were walking to a drop-in center for transgender youth. Detectives are investigating this as a possible hate crime.

Please, someone out there in DC knows who this killer. Do the right thing and turn him in. You are not a snitch for notifying the police on the whereabouts of this man who destroyed one of God's precious creations and wounded another. God would want you to do the honorable and just thing so this man cannot bring harm to any more of his wonderful children.
If you know who he is and you are reading this message, ask yourself if you would want this to happen to your brother, sister, mother or father. A mother is right now mourning the loss of her special child. Please spare more mothers from suffering the same fate. If you need guidance, then go to a minister, reverend, or priest and ask him or her to help you do the right thing.
Other readers of Rod 2.0 please join me in sending a message out there in the hope that certain someone will gain courage by knowing others will support him or her in going to the police.

I don't understand exactly how this is not a hate crime. All the reports say that the person who did this knew, or figured out she was trans. I guess it's a matter of finding out what he said during the attack, which I have always felt was a strange way of deciding if an attack is a hate crime. I say that because what is said is not always taken into consideration anyway. Just like the guys that were attacked, and one murdered, going to the gay back in DC.
I wish Nana's family strength at this time, and hope they not only find the killer, but are able to send him to jail for this crime.
