Janet Jackson's star power helped raise more than $1 million USD for HIV/AIDS research at last night's amFar Milano, the charity gala in Milan that fused fashion, entertainment and activism to benefit the American Foundation for AIDS Research. The event was part of Milan Fashion Week.
Jackson encouraged everyone to be "brave warriors" in the fight against HIV/AIDS: "I'd just like to thank everyone here in the global fashion community who've done so much to help amfAR and to support HIV/AIDS research. When this terrible pandemic began everyone who was infected died of AIDS. Today with your help millions of people are living with HIV."
A pair of handmade boots decorated with some 3,000 crysgtal stones, made for Michael Jackson but never worn by the late King of Pop, went for 10,000 euros ($14,544 USD). Jackson died June 25 at aged 50.
The Grammy Award-winning singer spoke to an audience that included Donatella Versace, Linda Evangelista, Dean and Dan Caten of DSquared, Dita von Teese and Rachel Bilson. Kanye West, apparently ending his nano-second self-imposed exile, was present with "girlfriend" Amber Rose.
Janet was absolutely brilliant in the midnight blue Versace evening gown. The plunging neckline and the big hair were an added bit of retro sex kitten glam. More photos and watch the red carpet arrivals, ON THE JUMP. Enjoy.

i am sooooo loving miss jackson. she is standing so tall and fabulous and doing so much. and you know she is hurting inside after losing her brother.

Janet is the best. I love how she is re-emerging and taking her rightful place in the upper set of stylish divas.
But I must say it: I love Janet, God knows I do-- but that hair looks like a rat's nest.
Girl, this is not 1994 and you are not singing "Again" at the Oscars!!

JANET JACKSON IS LOOKING PHENOMENAL. I AM SO PROUD THAT SOMETHING HAS STIRRED IN HER AND SHE ISN'T GOING TO QUIETLY INTO THAT SPACE WHERE SHE JUST SAID TO HAVE DECIDED SHE WAS NEVER GOING TO RETURN TO HER WELL-EARNED, WELL-OILED GREATNESS!
WORK, DAMITA JO!
I AM LOVING THE LOOK, ESPECIALLY THE HAIR...VERY "DISTURBING THE PEACE"!
I AM SOOOO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS NEXT PROJECT. I WENT TO HER LAST TOUR IN PURE SUPPORT-MODE, AND CAME OUT ENTHRALLED AND ENRAPTURED! IT WAS PURE PURE PURE ENTERTAINMENT AND SHE'S STILL GOT IT AND MORE!

A little tear swelled up in my eye, Janet looks so great! It just reminds me of the time when I was a little kid doing the Rhythm Nation dance in my bedroom when my world revolved around this woman. I played a mixed Janet cd last night and had a blast. Can't do the dances like I used to but it was fun.
