Countdown to Chris Brown fanboyz saying "he just made a mistake, leave Chris alone!" in 4..3..2...1...

Hendly

I'm not really a fan of either. Glambert is a decent singer but clearly pulled a major publicity stunt at AMAs. And his performance was shyt.

Brown is a convicted domestic violence abuser.

It's clear that Lambert is getting backlash because he is a gay man, but dropping him for Brown was so not right.

Jen

It appears to Me that the tell All is for the ratings . Yet they didnt give Adam the same chance? I truely believe one day all this i going to come and bite them in the arss someday Adam is becomming a worldwide superstar.. His CD is doing wonderful and The backlash has began.I am going to set back and watch the Adamstorm roll in.We love ya Adam.

Shane

ABC admits this was for ratings

I just think that if Mr. Brown is trying to move forward, much like Bill Withers or James Taylor, and try to seek counseling and live his life, why shouldn't he?

I've nothing againt Adam Lambert, but again, you take risks. If you want to symbolize gay sexual acts on tv to a country that still hasn't removed DADT, then like Mr. Brown who suffered consequences for his incident, you suffer consequences.

I say let Adam and Chris move forward in their lives, as they both have much in front of them.

And yeah, I do like Chris, but I was not at all supportive of his behaviour. Not that his former girlfriend marketing it as a launchpad for "creative expression" is much better, but she doesn't get called on it.-QH

TheRevKev

I will NOT be that dude...Perhaps they will follow me, BUT here's the drama!:

IF THEY BOOKED HIM TO RESPOND TO RIHANNA "INTERVIEW" THEN WHY IS HE SINGING!?!?!?

RIHANNA ONLY TALKED AND IF HE WAS TALKING TO RESPOND, DO IT SEATED AND RESPONDING! THE SECOND THEY GIVE HIM THE MIC, THEY MAKE THE POINTS THAT PEOPLE ARE ARGUING. ADAM SINGING AT 10:55PM SHOULD IN NO WAY BE COMPARISION FOR WHAT HE WOULD DO AT 7:30AM. HOW DO WE KNOW? HE SANG ON AI EVERY NIGHT AT 8:00PM AND NEVER WENT THERE! THE SECOND THEY MADE THE TIME AND HIS ACT AN ISSUE, THAT BECOME AN ISSUE FOR EVERY ARTIST! TO BOOK CHRIS TO SING IS ABOUT RATINGS! IT'S CHEAP AND I HATE THAT IT'S SHOWING UP ON A SHOW HOSTED BY A BLACK WOMAN, TRYING TO TAKE THE ANCHOR SEAT.

UGH.

Chris Brown hasn't be contrite in any of this to me and he's saying LET'S MOVE ON and we seem to leave in a society that's trying to agree. What I love is that the young fans are not having it. They are not selling out shows and are not feeling very appreciated by his APPRECIATION TOUR. I'm so sick of seeing "media" do stuff and then blame in on "what the people want." The people don't sit in booking meetings. The people don't contact publicists and managers. ABC is doing this and it's a cheap get. They want the ratings. They were afraid that Adam would bring protestors even though 1500 protestors out of 15,000,000 viewers is about 1% and MOST SHOWS GET 5 TIMES THAT MANY COMPLAINTS!

I am soooo disappointed with ABC and will not watch this show again. It's just foul.

Former COGIC

@ QH: "I just think that if Mr. Brown is trying to move forward, much like Bill Withers or James Taylor, and try to seek counseling and live his life, why shouldn't he?"

No one said Chris Brown CANNOT move forward. But simply saying "moving forward" doesn't mean his history cannot be discussed. I'm sorry but a criminal act is part of the public record. We can discuss as long as Brown puts himself out there.

And really? Comparing Chris Brown to James Brown and Bill Withers? Aside from the obvious lack of artistic merit, Brown and Withers were notable in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s for domestic violence. At that time the black community largely ignored and hush hush'd DV. I'd like to think we've moved past that.

Former COGIC

I have to agree with Rev Kev.
Rihanna gave an interview, not a performance. I'm hardly a Lambert fan but he performed live on AI for months. What happens at 11pm is different than 8am.

Rod, I'm always glad when you post on Chris Brown. It's always interesting to watch black gay men rush to defend a STRAIGHT 20 year old black man who has never shown any empathy for our community. smh

QH

I didn't compare Brown or Withers due to their musical backgrounds, and yes I am aware of the black community still not discussing the issues at that time. However, it be different if Brown was not remorseful or didn't care.

I just think that yes, the history can be discussed, but if the man is trying to better himself, he should also have the opportunity to do so.

@ former COGIC, I'm certainly not rushing to defend anyone, I just think every angle of the issue should be discussed is all.-QH

DJ

ROD DO YOU HAVE TO ALWAYS USE PHOTOS OF CHRIS BROWN IN COURT? YOU MAKE HIM LOOK LIKE A CRIMINAL!!!! IT WAS JUST ONE TIME!!!
LOLz -RM

Honut Sinti

Let me see, who to air...

Lambert: Unpredictable with a kiss to the face

Brown: Predicatable with a hit to the face

Ummmm. Toughie.

QH

@ former COGIC, I actually was discussing James Taylor in relation to Chris Brown, not James Brown. Mr. Taylor, who was married to Carly Simon, one of my favorite singers whom he used to beat quite frequently. He is known for his music and has several deals, one formerly with Hear Say, a Starbucks music label his wife was signed to last year.-QH

Xavier Dereon

LOL @ Honut

@ DJ: Umm, because he is a criminal?
Just a thought, dear. Just a though.

Mark

I think it should be noted that Chris Brown appearance was scheduled way before Adam Lambert's play up to what homophobic people already think of us, being overly sexual promiscous animals. His performance at the AMA's just fed all of the stereotypes of gay men. However, CBS blurring the kiss between him and the other guy while showing Britney and Madonna's kiss was not right at all. ABC's decision is just that...their decision. I don't really have an opinion on that. It is what it is. Janet didn't get any break when her boob accidentally popped out.
ABC claims the appearance was pre-scheduled. You do not know this for a fact. Unless you know more people at ABC than I do after working there many years. Re: "Stereotypes" of homophobic people. If they're homophobic, they have plenty of stereotypes about us. But good to see you still defending Brown after all these months. At least you're being consistent. -RM

thepulpit

I will financially support Lambert over Brown any day! Brown gotta learn a lil' life lesson: every action requires a reaction - some with serious consequences.

Enjoyed Lambert's performance; certainly, he gave them something to talk about. Also, excellent example of double standards and homophobia.

Lambert stated, I'm not a babysitter; parents should TiVo the known risky wards show and preview before allowing the lil' rugrats to watch.

Mellovirgo89

Chris Brown "the felony abuser" even though that isn't the whole of who he is...it IS TRUE that he is a felon (I'll give yall that one)

Every one of you that feels this way about Chris Brown

I hope that you are known and addressed as "Pillow Biters or Butt Pirates" by strangers. Even though that isn't the whole of who you are...it IS TRUE that you engage in man on man sex right??

*SMH at people*

You surely cannot equate a VIOLENT CRIMINAL CHARGE with consensual GAY sex which is NOT illegal. That's a bit much. I don't have a criminal record. Defend the teenage straight boy all you want but don't ever equate law abiding, non violent gay men with that bs on my blog. -RM

Greg G

Fail @ Mellovirgo89

Sorry but that comparison is such a fail. I don't beat up or bite my BF. But yet another gay black men who wants throw our community under the bus once a straight celebrity (who doesnt know them) is being criticized.

SMH at gay black men who defend boys who beat up girls

Greg G

And Rod, as always, thank you thank you thank you. You have no problem speaking your mind. I love it.

I wish more black gay men had that same fierceness for fighting for equality as they do defending some 20 year old kid who bit his girlfriend and ran away when she called the police.Anytime some of yall want to fight for our rights with the same passion you use to defend Chris Brown or Terrell Carter, let me know.

nathans

Shame on them having Chris B over Adam... we keep excusing people when we shouldn't... Chris is catually being allowed to parlay his felony into selling (new) records. Thats fcked up!

It all boils down to heterosexism / homophobia and misogyny...

Rihanna is being crucified by many because she spoke out, Adam lambert is being crucified by many becasue he is flaming and Chris B is a fucking Martyr.... this world is fuked up

FREELEO

The courts have decided. Chris Brown is serving his sentence. The biggest problem for me is the court of public opinion continues to convict people after they have served their sentence. This is not a defense against abuse. That is indefensible. For me, this about someone looking for a second chance. It's one reason that so many people who have been convicted of a crime slip back into the negative behavior. No one is willing to give them a second chance. I'm always confused when spiritual people aren't willing to offer a second chance, particularly to one so young..

This little incident with ABC has done more for Adam Lambert's career then any performance ever could. It made him a person of interest. I still don't get him though.

Mellovirgo89

[You're free to comment and continue to defend the straight teenage boy who punched his GF and ran from the police. But do not compare that and/or a FELONY ASSAULT or CRIMINAL charge to BEING GAY which is NOT illegal. That's like conservatives comparing gay sex and/or relationships to bestiality and other illegal acts. RM]

Da'Realist One

THANK YOU @ Greg G for your 14:59 comment!

Its a shame how thousand of puerto ricans can line up by the THOUSANDS (as posted on a earlier story on this website), yet we as black men and women don't have that same passion and outrage over the COUNTLESS acts of crime committed against GLBT people of color, many of them at the hands OF OUR OWN PEOPLE!!

Yet, a story involving Chris Brown stirs up the heart and emotions pleading everyone to forgive him for his "mistake" and want us to move on..

Where are the priorities?

(Rod, can you do a story on that one by chance??)

nathans

SMH

he plead GUILTY to beating up his girlgriend, biting her etc and there are pics to prove that he did so. This was only February. He did not receive a custodial sentence like most felons would have prolly because of his celebrity. In my opinion it is far too early to roll out the lets forgive and forget... he should be in JAIL.

Adam did like so many others before him Madonna, Christina Britney etc...

Its so sad that the young gays an young women are so messed up...

Faison

"it IS TRUE that he is a felon (I'll give yall that one)"

You're not "giving" us anything. The criminal conviction for a violent crime is a fact. You might not want to hear, but it's a fact. And Rod (or the NY Post) saying it is no different than calling Marion Berry a 'convicted tax fraud" or 50 Cent a 'convicted drug dealer'.

And I'm totally co-signing what Rod and others have said. I am not a criminal and have never been accused or charged with hurting or hitting anyone. How dare you try to compare Chris Brown beating and damn near killing a woman to gay men who aren't breaking any laws! Find another example to defend your R&B bad boy crush, don't bring us into this.

Too bad most of yall defending Chrissy never defend black gay men who are killed or whose rights are being taken away. Gay teens were killed and beaten up last week and I didnt many comments in those stories at all.

Faison

I meant to say "Gay teens were killed and beaten up last week and I didnt see many comments in those stories at all."
