There is a new target by the hateful "church" that pickets the funerals of fallen American soldiers and brought you "God Hates Fags" and "God Hates Sweden": Lady Gaga. The unhinged Fred Phelps and his hatemongers at the Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church will picket Gaga's January 7 show at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis, calling the "Bad Romance" star "Lady of the Night" Gaga and a "hussy" who "seduced a generation."
The haters' press release (PDF) says little about their core issues of gays and homophobia. But the WBC website slams the extravagant performer's bisexuality and commitment to gay rights:
She loudly and proudly proclaims her fornication and "sexual relations with women," saying that she wants to "free" and "liberate" her young fans. Gag! She glories in her shame, encourages everyone she can get her hands on to do the same, and pretends that God is just great to go along with her plan. She wasn't lying, however, when she said, "This is for God and the gays," during the MTV VMA's. What she meant by that was: "In your face, God! You can call gays abominable, but here I stand, Best New Artist, and I say gays are great!" There's nothing new about the antics of this silly girl.
Meanwhile: Gaga is joining up with Virgin Mobile to help homeless LGBT youth. Says the pop superstar and gay rights advocate: "One of every five homeless in the community identified themselves as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered youth, making homophobia a top cause of domestic violence. And you all know that makes me very angry."
The pop superstar is giving away free concert tickets to homeless gay teens and will match charitable donations up to $25,000. That's a class act. Watch Gaga's message to support homeless LGBT youth WHEN YOU JUMP.

I'm SO intrigued: THIS CHURCH'S GOD HATES A LOT OF FOLKS! Hmmm!

What else is new...
They're adding more attention to Lady Gaga concert. I'm sure she is thankful. This explains the free tickets. She sees sales booming for this concert.
Great PR move. Cha-Ching!

@ Whatuthink
The free tickets are for homeless LGBT youth. She's also donating $25,000 of her own cash for homeless gay teens. This was announced BEFORE the Westboro craziness and goes for her whole tour.
Gaga may or may not be your cup of tea, but it's really tacky to say she is using Westboro's homophobia as a "great PR move. Cha ching!" Lady Gaga has been giving her own time and money, marching in protests and contacting state legislators about marriage equality. Equality and gay rights is more than just "pr" to some people.

Did Miss GaGa make a donation to WBC in exchange for this publicity?

smdh
how many millions of people have heard of lady gaga? how many times is she on tv, award shows and appearing with madonna or queen elizabeth?
and how many people have heard of wbc? outside of the gay blogs?
exactly
as danny said, even if folks don't like her, its beyond lame to question her commitment (sp?) to gay rights. i know who was marching at the equality march and in the front row at human rights campaign when president obama made his speech.
it wasn't miss bouncy knowles, i can tell you that much!

@ Danny
Obviously you don't know the business. How do you think Rod heard of the story? It was on the wire, silly.

I strongly feel like Fred Phelps is mentally unstable and all of his followers are sheep. And I'm a little disturbed that more people would discuss Gaga's press here as opposed to what Phelps and his goons have been trying to do to our community for decades now. Is this type of priorities why we as a lgbt community have such a hard time getting things done???
