The gold medal in men's 1,500 meter speed skating event is once again denied to Shani Davis who takes the silver at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. Mark Tuitert of the Netherlands won it this time, posting a time the world-record holder couldn't match.
Davis immediately turned his attention to the 2014 Games in Russia. Says Davis: "I have to accept it, but I still want to be able to win that race,"
Davis said Saturday as his Olympics ended when he settled for silver.
"That has been my favorite race since I was a junior, since as far along as I can remember me skating. I always wanted to win that medal.
On Wednesday night, Shani Davis won his second consecutive gold medal in the men’s 1,000-meter Olympic speed skating event.

He shouldn't be sad, Shani did very well (...and if he insists on being sad, I'd be happy to fly to Chicago to console him!:)
Good luck in 2012!

I was lucky enough to be there yesterday. One aspect of the competition that doesn't get nearly enough coverage it the fact that the dressing room is right out there in the middle of the rink. Yes, Shani took off his t-shirt and pulled on that spandex right in front of me. I won the gold.
