You may recall that Meg Whitman, the California Republican gubernatorial candidate and billionaire former CEO of eBay, was a major supporter of Proposition 8. The Mercury News interviewed Whitman and she was asked to clarify her positions on the gays:
"Asked to reconcile her stance against same-sex marriage with her willingness to allow gays and lesbians to adopt children, Whitman said she believes the term 'marriage' should apply only to the union of a man and a woman. Still, she's in favor of granting equal rights to gay people through civil unions and domestic partnerships. She approves letting gays adopt because "many kids need a great home."
Is gay adoption controversial in California? I don't think it is. But a cookie for Whitman for agreeing that "many kids" need a home.

(FORGIVE THE CAPS, BUT I AM FURIOUS):
WHAT KIND OF B.S. IS THIS!? SHE CAN'T RECONCILE GAYS AS EQUAL?! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!
SO IF THIS WAS 50 YEARS AGO, SHE GETS TO SAY THAT ABOUT BLACK FOLKS? IF ITS 100 YEARS AGO, SOME MAN WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SAY THAT IN PUBLIC ABOUT HER!!! SHE'S IN A PLACE WHERE SOME MANY IS PROBABLY SAYING SOMETHING LIKE THIS ABOUT HER!
I AM SOOOO SICK OF US SITTING STILL (IN BIG CITIES ESPECIALLY) AND TAKING THIS KIND OF MESS FROM PEOPLE!
LET'S DO THE WORK TO MAKE SURE THAT THIS WOMAN NEVER SEES PUBLIC OFFICE!!!
JUST LIKE WE ARE DOING IN NJ, WHERE WE ARE WORKING TO UNSEAT EVERY DEMOCRAT WHO SAID THAT THEY WERE SUPPORTIVE AND THEN DIDN'T STEP UP AND VOTE THE RIGHT WAY, IT'S TIME TO USE OUR CONSIDERABLE VOTE TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE NOT IGNORANT IDIOTS IN OFFICE! ENOUGH!!!!!
WE'VE GOT STOP BEING FRIENDS WITH THESE PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT ASHAMED OR AFRAID TO SAY 'I HAVE LOTS OF GAY FRIENDS' BUT WHO VOTE AGAINST THEM.
STAND WITH US OR STAND ASIDE!!!
