In case you missed the earlier live stream, here is video of the first same-sex couples to marry in Washington D.C. this morning. The first couple to tie the knot was Angelisa Young and Sinjoyla Townsend, followed by Reginald Stanley and Rocky Galloway and Rev. Elder Darlene Garner and Rev. Lorilyn Candy Holmes.
Also, in case you didn't see it earlier, the Washington Post profiles how Angelisa and Sinjoyla met and fell in love at the University of the District of Columbia:
"Young felt the attraction first. Throughout the semester, she found excuses to pass Townsend fliers for the political activist group that she belonged to on campus; she was devastated when she later found those fliers left behind after class. She would go to watch Townsend shoot hoops, even though she hates sports. 'She would be reading books at the game,' Townsend teases. Young would come into the gymnasium in her girlie high-heeled boots, in clothes completely ridiculous for a basketball court. Young protests: 'I was trying!'"
There is a shorter video of the first wedding and a longer video, via HRC Backstory, of the first three weddings. Watch the happy couples WHEN YOU JUMP ...

Rod,
Thank you (more than you ever know) for this post. I can't even speak the depth of my emotions right now, to see this happening in my lifetime, in my hometown, with people of color.
WOW.

MY GOD, I cannot stop crying!
WOW...THIS DAY!!!!
All three couples being African-American is just making me pour out tears that haven't been shed in all of my work here in NJ and for Marriage Equality. I truly fight for equality for us all BUT to see people, in love and relationship, who both look like me, is something that's reaching all the way back into my childhood!
This is stunning to my soul in all of the best ways!
May God's grace and greatness be with each of these couples as they CONTINUE FORWARD in love! This is the magnitude of love, when you stand together and commit EVEN WHEN the law and the laity didn't stand with you. Now, this is a symbol and a signification of the Power of Love!

@ Rod:
I have to agree with the fabulous Rev Kev. I've been totally blown away by the images, the video and the stories of these black gay and lesbian couples ... and the fact that you've been following them all for some time!
This is so beautiful and so positive, I pray and hope that I can be one of them one day.

One of the things I like about the slide show on this at the Washington Post website is how truly diverse the DC newlyweds are: Black couples, Asian Couples, white couples, men, women....It Looks Like America!:)

I JUST CAN'T STOP SMILING!
I loved Angelisa & Sinjoyla's profile in The Washington Post, and I smiled all the way through reading it! I was still smiling when I started watching the video, but when I actually saw them, I started crying. I was crying, laughing and smiling at the same time because I was filled with joy and hope.
Darlene and Candy's ceremony was quite touching, and they are really beautiful, indeed! But when Reggie and Rocky embraced, it really hit home for me and I FELT IT with a force almost like being in church and wanting to get up and shout!
I've always been a naysayer about Marriage Equality coming to my state of Ohio, but after reading about & seeing these glorious couples, I'm never again going to say what we can't have.
OUR DAY WILL COME WHEN WE'LL HAVE EVERYTHING, TOO!
My man has assured me that we'll get to do this when it's the right time for us to! I've already got Revkev's plane ticket put aside because I know he's going to officiate! But the right time may be sooner than we expect because OUR TIME AND OUR DAY is gonna come, too!
