Poet, activist and author Emanuel Xavier becomes the latest to lend his face and name to photographer Adam Bouska's striking "No H8" campaign.
The author of the critically acclaimed Pier Queen seen on HBO's Def Poetry Jam and the movie Ski Trip, says he was honored to join the campaign. Emanuel Xavier tells Rod 2.0, "This is a very important cause. Too many people use religion as a form of oppression. Marriage is about love and we all have a right to share our lives with whom we want."
In related news: Legendary: The Spoken Word Poetry of Emanuel Xavier, a spoken word/music collaboration album, can now be downloaded on iTunes. New York City's El Museo del Barrio will stage their very first Gay Pride event in June and will feature selections from Legendary, whose title track is a tribute to the ballroom scene. El Museo del Barrio has also invited Emanuel Xavier to exclusively curate their successful "Speak Up! Speak Out!" monthly spoken word poetry series for Fall 2010 and Spring 2011. Bravo and congrats to Emanuel.

Rod, I am such a huge Emanuel Xavier fan... he's really a huge inspiration to many young gay Latino men. And yes so happy to see some Latino men in No H8!
