Racial profiling becomes the law in Arizona. After days of suspense and facing a toough re-election battle, Arizona's conservative and anti-gay Republican Gov. Jan Brewer signed a sweeping anti-illegal immigration bill. The bill is the toughest law in the nation targeting illegal immigrants, making it a state crime to be in the country illegally and requiring police to enforce federal immigration laws.
Watch Brewer sign the bill into law before a "diverse" group of Arizonans AFTER THE JUMP ...
The Arizona Republic explains SB 1070:
"The new immigration law will require anyone whom police suspect of being in the country illegally to produce "an alien registration document," such as a green card, or other proof of citizenship such as a passport or Arizona driver's license. It also makes it illegal to impede the flow of traffic by picking up day laborers for work. A day laborer who gets picked up for work, thus impeding traffic, would also be committing a criminal act."
When Brewer signed the bill, a chorus of "Shame on you" was shouted from the audience. Hundreds demonstrated outside the Capitol as Hispanic leaders and Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon vowed to challenge the bill. The Democratic mayor says the bill is "unconstitutional" and "unenforceable" and says Ariziona's largest city file a lawsuit.
You may recall that Brewer made national news last year shortly after assuming office. One of Brewer's first acts was to strip health insurance coverage for domestic partners as a "cost cutting measure."
The Party of Lincoln indeed. Watch Brewer sign the bill into law before a "diverse" group of Arizonans AFTER THE JUMP ...

“The Party of Lincoln indeed.”
That would be George Lincoln Rockwell.

The funny thing is is that republicans say that they want smaller government and less spending, but is not enforcing this bill going to grow government, which will create more costs? Isn't racial profiling illegal? So, not only is America becoming "socialist," it is becoming fascist as well, compliments of the Republicans.

I had hoped the left was better than the empty rhetoric attack noe pevading the media. But I guess it's just too much to ask that they pass on such excellent sounds bites as, "Breathing while brown" and "When brown means illegal." Illegal immigration is a problem with serious negative effects: http://www.thinkersjam.com/illegal-immigration-is-not-a-racial-issue/. Maybe at some point we can get past the incendiary rhetoric and have a real discussion on the matter.”
