Civil rights veteran and Georgia Democratic Congressmen John Lewis delivered a powerful speech comparing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" to the racial segregation that he fought as a Freedom Rider. Said the congressman: "It was wrong then and it was wrong now!"
Majority Leader Steny Hoyer was also on fire, rebuking right-wing anti-gay rhetoric. Watch these fabulous two speeches, as well as Barbara Lee and "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" repeal sponsor Patrick Murphy WHEN YOU JUMP ...

Wow. Powerful speeches. Good to see we have some leaders prepared to stand up and say what should be said

I am proud to say that Steny Hoyer's my rep in congress. I love the way that he showed how this is same struggle for equality that has been fought the 1940 (really since the birth of this country).
