The fabulous Macy Gray appears on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and performs "Beauty in the World", the lead single from her upcoming album The Sellout.
"I really liked the set they designed for me on 'The Tonight Show'," Macy tells Rod 2.0, as we spoke on the phone about an hour ago. "I borrowed it from something John Lennon did. They did an amazing job bringing it to life. And it totally fits the song's message is about peace and love ... which we need more of."
The song itself is very reminiscent of Sly and the Family Stone, "I love Sly," Macy tells R20. "I try to work him in everything. In almost every song. He was one of my inspirations."
Our interview with Macy Gray next week and we talk about the new album, jazz music, gay youth and Tyler Perry. Watch the set AFTER THE JUMP ...

"Beauty in the World?" Neither her face nor voice are attractive.

I love it! I haven't listened to her music since her album "The Trouble with Being Myself", and I have missed it. I'll have to pick up the new album.

Her artistry is one of the quintessential breaths of fresh air that's sorely needed in today's stale environment.
