Portugal and Real Madrid's football and fashion phenom Cristiano Ronaldo has become a father, according to announcements made on his Twitter and Facebook accounts, as well as reports in Portuguese media.
The simple and somewhat mysterious Twitter message:
It is with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become father to a baby boy. As agreed with the baby's mother, who prefers to have her identity kept confidential, my son will be under my exclusive guardianship. No further information will be provided on this subject and I request everyone to fully respect my right to privacy (and that of the child) at least on issues as personal as these are.
Ronaldo has declined to identify the mother. The Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã
reported that she "is from North America and had her child in early
June", according to Agence France-Presse.
Ronaldo joined Madrid from Manchester United last summer in an £80m deal ($121m) and became the world's most expensive player. The now-iconic footballer recently returned home from World Cup 2010 in South Africa, where Portugal were eliminated at the last-16 stage by Spain. Ronaldo recently announced his support for marriage equality, which is now the law in Portugal.

Is he pulling a Ricky Martin?
Posted by: Raheem | 04 July 2010 at 19:17
@ Raheem: My thoughts exactly. This was not random and this is very produced.
Amd what woman willingly gives up all rights to her child? Unless that was the plan all along.
Generally in cases like that the woman KEEPS her own child no matter what. How many one night stands do you read about that sign over exclusive custody to any man.
No no no , this is an arrangement and I wouldn't be surprised if he has been a sperm donor for a surrogate.

bisexual or downlow at minimum
and the mother just giving him the baby strikes me as a business deal.
and announcing it on twitter and facebook a month after the baby was born ... and on a holiday weekend?

so this proves Cristiano is..bi?! :)
but all seriousness aside, yes it does seem odd that he is just now claiming his child and the mother is giving up parental rights
this does smack of Ricky martin/Vin Diesel (remember when he MAGICALLY appeared out of nowhere with a baby boy and a girlfriend? yet we haven't SEEN or HEARD from either of them from that point onward? MESS)

Anyone remember Ricky Martin and becoming a father of twins? Precisely.
Posted by: AfroGay | 05 July 2010 at 11:09
Ricky Martin isn't the only other person to do something like this. I believe Clay Aiken did something similar as well.

As a community, we could consider being supportive of him and leaving it alone. Then if it turns out he IS, indeed gay, he won't worry about getting slapped with criticism, insults and stereotypes from our own community.

He is a great soccer player and a great human being ! I wish you all the best ! He doesn't have to answer to any body !
