A Chicago-based former Delta Airlines flight attendant with 23 years service has filed federal a lawsuit against the company claiming he was fired because he was HIV positive, reports CBS 2.
The suit was filed on Friday and claims that "John Doe" was fired for a “policy violation” about a month after telling Delta his serostatus in 2009. The three-count suit claims the man was discriminated against under the Americans with Disabilities Act for sleep disorder, addiction to prescription sleep medicine and his HIV status.
In related news: HIV/AIDS activists criticize reporters (and bloggers) for revealing the alleged HIV status of Steve Slater, the Jet Blue flight attendant turned internet sensation. The New York Daily News initially headlined one story with Slater's alleged HIV status and later retracted it.

It's a shame the media still consider an HIV status to be an allegation.
