Here is the first theatrical one-sheet of Janet Jackson as "The Lady in Red" in Tyler Perry's For Colored Girls.
The title has been officially shortened from For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf to simply For Colored Girls. And the release date has been moved up for Academy Award season, reports Scott Mendelson at HuffPo.
Lionsgate has moved the filmfrom its original January 14th, 2011 slot into the heart of the awards season. It will now open wide on November 5th, which is incidentally the same weekend that Precious (which Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey put their names on after the fact to insure a Lionsgate distribution) debuted in limited release, wracking up a record $108,000 per each of its eighteen screens.
The cast includes Tyler Perry veterans such as Janet Jackson and Kimberly Elise , along with Whoopi Goldberg, Loretta Devine, Phylicia Rashad, Thandie Newton, Dreamgirl Anika Noni Rose and Kerry Washington—who won rave reviews for her performance as a transgender prostitute in Life is Hot in Cracktown. For Colored Girls also co-stars the fabulous Macy Gray, who talked to R20 about the movie and Tyler Perry.
