This is not unexpected. Police say the gay couple found murdered inside their Wilton Manors home over Christmas weekend knew the man accused of killing them, reports The Sun Sentinel.
But exactly how the suspect, Peter Serge Avsenew, 26, of Hollywood, met the two victims is still under investigation, according to Wilton Manors Police Sgt. Charles Howard. Charges are pending against Avsenew in the killings of Kevin Mark Powell, 47, and Stephen Duane Adams, 52. The victims were found slain in their home, in the 2500 block of Northeast Eighth Avenue, at 1:30 a.m. Sunday. They were partners for 29 years, a relative said.
Authorities on Tuesday night found and arrested Avsenew, a convicted felon, in Polk County. The victims' vehicle, which had disappeared, also was found with him in Polk County. On Thursday, he was being held without bail in a Polk County jail on an unrelated violation of probation charge from Monroe County.
Authorities say Avsenew has been taken into custody more than a dozen times since 2003. The charges include vehicle theft, robbery, grand theft, fraud, drug charges and resisting arrest.
Joe Jervis has followed the case and links to Avsenew's Facebook page, which includes shirtless pics and an indication that he is a new father.
