Daniel Hernandez Jr., the 20-year-old gay college intern whose sharp reflexes are credited with helping to save the life of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, was recognized by President Obama during his speech at the University of Arizona Wednesday night. We are grateful to Daniel Hernandez," said the President. "Daniel, I am sorry, you may deny, that you are a hero, but we have decided you are a hero
Hernandez, who was seated between the President and former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, insists he's no hero. "I have to humbly reject the use of the word hero ... even though the president did call me that."
Humble. Classy. Selfless. Watch, AFTER THE JUMP ...

President Obama said to him from the podium in Tucson:
"YOU RAN THROUGH CHAOS TO MINISTER TO YOUR BOSS..."
I promise you that line made me burst into tears!

Awwww, that line was sweet but I think Daniel would have done it for anyone, boss or otherwise. :)

This guy is simply amazing. I get tears in my eyes knowing there are such people in the world even at such an incredibly young age. If he won't accept the term "hero" how about roll model?

Make that "role model". Wish you could edit after.

Fred, I know he would have. I just wanted to use the quote as it was. He did it because of the kind of man he is. BRAVO!
