Zimbabwe's rabidly anti-gay President Robert Mugabe has slammed Great Britain and the European Union for imposing an asset freeze and travel ban on him and his inner circle. The dictator says he doesn't care and condemned their "acceptance" of gay rights, reports New Zimbabwe.
"We don't worry ourselves about the goings-on in Europe," he told thousands at the burial of the deputy director general of the CIO, Menard Muzariri, who died on Monday. "About the unnatural things happening there, where they turn man-to-man and woman-to-woman. We say, well, it's their country. If they want to call their country British Gaydom, it's up to them. That's not our culture. We condemn that filth."
Homosexuality is illegal in the southern African nation. The nation's only LGBT rights group, Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe (GALZ) is allowed to operate, but often suffers police harassment. Two GALZ activists arrested in a May 2010 raid—and later tortured—were recently acquitted of charges of possessing pornography and undermining Mugabe.
Mugabe and Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai have rejected calls to include gay rights in the new constitution. Mugabe once infamously described gays as "worse than dogs and pigs" and recently apologized to dogs and pigs for the comparison.

I remember back in the early 70s Robert Mugabe was seen as a hero--bringing down the white power structure in Rhodesia. Now he's just a senile ol' nasty man. And a ruthless thief. You never know how people are going to turn out, do you?
And welcome back, Rod. Glad you're feeling well.
