After an almost six hour debate, the Republican-led Minnesota legislature approved putting a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage to voters in November 2012.
The House of Representatives voted 70 to 62 to approve the ballot initiative. Four Republicans voted no and two Democrats voted yes, reports the Star Tribune. The Senate approved the proposed amendment earlier in May largely along party lines.
Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton strongly opposes the amendment. Unfortunately the governor has no veto power over proposed ballot initiatives.

Shame.

The Republicans in Minnesota gained the majority on campaign promises of "jobs, jobs, jobs."
By the looks of things, I'd say
they're significantly "off message".....
And I'm not so sure that my fellow liberal statespeople can stay organized enough to defeat such a hot button issue at the ballot box.
I envision a mass move of Minn.'s LGBT population to Chicago!
