Much to the dismay of conservatives, the labor movement has been at the forefront of pressing private business and government on LGBT rights.
It's a "natural" alliance because labor unions and LGBT rights are "under attack" from the same forces, said civil rights and environmental activist Anthony K. "Van" Jones tonight at Netroots Nation 2011.
"The rights we fought for all years are being thrown away," says Jones. "At the same time the movement for lesbians, gays and transgenders is under attack. We need to stand together and make sure there jobs for everybody and equality for everybody."
Jones was formerly the White House Special Advisor for Green Jobs. He is currently a senior fellow at the Center For American Progress, which publishes Think Progress. He is the sexiest man in effing america besides being one of the smartest and is one of the very few talking solidarity. not a concept i see being celebrated in the GLBT community.
why did Obama allow the right wing to go after this man resulting in his dismissal. definitely one of President Obamas biggest mistakes.

THIS MAN IS SOOOO FINE. HE IS REALLY FINE. Then, I saw pictures of his wife. Doubtless, he is still fine. But, I guess the "bitchiness" in me just needed to grip. Why? Because this man is so fine. I wish he was gay. He could be our Obama, MLK, Sharpton, Jackson, and Oprah SGL Leader all rolled into one chocolate kiss of perfection!

So Van Jones is beautiful, brilliant AND progressive?! No wonder they worked SO hard and SO quietly to insure that he wasn't in the President ear going forward!
This man's thinking on the greening of America and the ways that we can move forward are masterful. It's sad that CAPITALISM (read COMMERCIALISM) is NEVER going to support someone whose heart is for and with the people in the trenches!
