Academy Award-winning actress and talk show host Mo’Nique becomes the latest prominent person to lend their platform to the Human Rights Campaign's Americans for Marriage Equality.
""Gay and lesbian couples believe in commitment, family and love. All that's being asked for is the right to marry" says Mo'Nique. "It's the right thing to do."
Mo'Nique has long been a fierce ally for the Black LGBT community and a high-profile HIV/AIDS advocate. In a 2010 interview in The Advocate, she discussed the hypocrisy of the black church toward its many gay and lesbian members. The actress also used The Mo'Nique Show as a platform for LGBT inclusiveness, such as a must-see episode where she and veteran R&B singer Miki Howard discussed gays in the Black church.
