I know from talking with two of my close gay friends in Nigeria and other gay men in Nigeria how horrible frightening and dangerous life can be there for gays especially gay men. Both of my friends were attacked verbally and humiliated and beaten and arrested. And they were not doing anything "gay." One was walking down the street talking to his lover on his cell phone and the my other friend was at a party. The Colonials did a great job of introducing homophobia to most African countries and our gay brothers and sisters very often lead lives of fear loneliness and privation. And the fundamental "illness" which has caused and still does cause all of this human misery is religion.

Nigeria need to open there eyes and accept gays for who the are.
