A disgusting footnote to the Pennsylvania State University sexual abuse scandal. The first alleged victim of former coach Jerry Sandusky has been forced to leave school after rampant bullying from other students, reports Penn Live. The teen's classmates were upset because ... football coach Joe Paterno was fired!
Victim One had to leave his school in the middle of his senior year because of bullying, his counselor said Sunday. Officials at Central Mountain High School in Clinton County weren’t providing guidance for fellow students, who were reacting badly about Joe Paterno’s firing and blaming the 17-year-old, said Mike Gillum, the psychologist helping his family. Those officials were unavailable for comment this weekend. The name-calling and verbal threats were just too much, he said
And people often ask why abuse victims—particularly those who are male—"didn't come forward sooner" ....
The 67-year-old Sandusky has been charged with 40 counts of criminal acts involving sexual abuse toward eight young boys between the ages of 10 and 15. Legendary coach Joe Paterno—with 61 years and 400+ wins—was fired after being accused of covering up Sandusky's criminal behavior. Prosecutors have revealed that police were never alerted despite eyewitness accounts of the sexual abuse.
Meanwhile: Most of the victims were reportedly were Black, "raising more questions" about "poor inner-city, underprivileged youth [being] the most vulnerable" for sexual abuse.
No big deal. It's just some little Black boys. Let's win some football!
