Bravo. Chicagoland Public Radio WBEZ-FM profiles 26-year-old Terrence Chappell, the nightlife and society columnist for ChicagoPride.com. The profile is part of a special series on Chicago's Southwest Side Auburn Gresham neighborhood.
Chappell describes growing up and living in the neighborhood, and admits that he feels "misunderstood" both there and in Boystown, where he often covers gay nightlife. Terrence is joined by his mother Marilyn and both discuss what it's like to be young, gay and Black in their neighborhood.
The fantastic segment of photos and audio is sensitive and well produced. Love the bond between mother and son. Watch and listen AFTER THE JUMP ...

It's nice how the mum didn't push him out of the closet but waited for him to come out at his own time.
