The media credentials badge at the 16th International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa in Addis Ababa.
On the reverse is my security clearance by the Ethiopian government. The invited speakers include 5 current heads of state and several former heads of state including President George W. Bush, Botswana's Festus Mogae and Zambia's Kenneth Kuanda. This is in addition to United Nations officials, MPs and government ministers.
The Millenium Hall conference center is super-secure and there are hundreds of armed troops. No photos allowed when entering or exiting the conference center. The hotels also have armed guards and many of the hotel and conference shuttle buses also have escorts.
Rod, continue to be vigilant and be careful. Although I applaud the efforts of the conference, you are indeed in hostile territory.
