Former Rutgers University student Dharun Ravi is expected to be granted an early release from jail. Ravi could be released as soon as tomorrow, reports the Daily News.
Ravi will likely be released from the Middlesex County Jail after serving just 20 days of a 30-day sentence, warden Edmond Cicchi said. He’s being released from prison 10 days early because he began his term with five days of credit for good behavior and five for working.
Ravi was sentenced to 30 days in jail on May 31 for using a webcam to record and live-stream roommate Tyler Clementi's sexual encounter with another man in September 2010. The 18-year-old Clementi completed suicide only three days later. Ravi was not charged in Clementi's death.
Ravi was convicted of invasion of privacy, bias intimidation, witness tampering and other charges on 16 March. The 20-year-old Dharun Ravi faced up to 10 years in prison and deportation to his native country of India. Dharun Ravi is appealing the conviction.

This makes a mockery of the of the legal system... He should have least served a year. Videotaping someone without their knowledge is despicable...

His lawyer really shouldn't appeal. Now the other side is appealing also. He can go away even longer now. I felt he should be in for at least a year considering what he did and what the sentence could have been. Now his people have the audacity to appeal.

I don't get the point of an early release for a 30 day sentence. Regardless, I think people are quick to judge the situation with him and the entire case.
