President Obama gets a lift in Florida. Literally. POTUS was on the receiving end of a bear hug from a pizza store owner, power lifter and supporter.
The owner, Scott Van Duzer, stands 6-foot, 3 inches tall, weighs 260 pounds, is able to bench press 350 pounds and sports monstrous pectoral muscles. "Everybody, look at these guns," Mr. Obama said, pointing to his muscles. "If I eat your pizza will I look like that?"
With that, they embraced, and that’s when Mr. Van Duzer picked him up. If that weren’t colorful enough, it turns out that the campaign chose his pizza shop to visit because he has actively promoted blood donation, receiving state and federal commendations. He said he’s a registered Republican who voted for Mr. Obama in 2008 and plans to again in 2012.
Van Duzer said the Secret Service signed off on the hug "as long as don't take him away."
In other news: The latest Gallup and Reuters/Ipsos polls released Sunday show the President Obama received a noticeable "bounce" following the Republican and Democratic conventions. Obama leads Mitt Romney by four to five percentage points.
"Obama's job-approval rating in the Gallup Poll [also] rose to 52%, the highest it has been since it was boosted by the killing of Osama bin Laden in May 2011," notes USA Today.
Keep that good news coming.
