"The Skorpion Show's" Fantastic Interview with Jenifer Lewis

Kevin and Makael at The Skorpion Show have uploaded a fantastic interview with the amazing Jenifer Lewis. There is some delicious behind-the-scenes tea on Lewis' acting career, such as how she landed the role of Tina Turner's mother on What's Love Got to Do With It—"I lived next door to Angela Bassett!"—and her little-known contribution to the original production of Dreamgirls.

"Michael Bennett who did A Chorus Line created a workshop and that's where I originated the acting role of Effie White," says the always fab Ms. Lewis. "They found Jennifer Hudson and hired her for her voice.  But they hired me to contribute my acting skills to develop the role. I could sing, honey, but nobody couldn't saaang like Jennifer Holliday. Nobody can sing like that! I was actually paid through the entire Broadway run of Dreamgirls and never appeared on stage."

I've been watching Kevin and Makael for over a year now. They're informative and often hilarious. And they're Philadelphians! And it's funny--when I first saw the show I didn't know where they were located. But after about 10 minutes of hearing them I could tell those were Philly accents and vernacular. Atleast they are two good things about this town.
