One of the most awkward moments at the at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards—in addition to enduring Miley Cyrus—was Jason Collins and A$AP Rocky announcing Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' performance of the marriage equality anthem "Same Love." The duo were awarded the MTV Moonman for "Best Video with a Social Message" and "Best Hip-Hop Video" their track that went vira.
"Hating someone for their sexual orientation is the same as hating them for the color of their skin," said Collins, who made history as the first NBA player to come out during his playing career. "The only way it will change is it you stand up for what is right."
"A$AP Ferg’s Trap Lord album is in stores right now!" said Rocky. "The next artist stands up for everybody being equal—color, homosexuality" he added, pointing to Collins.
Not sure was this another example of the fashion forward rapper "trying" to be an ally but saying the wrong thing ... not wanting to participate in a PSA for gay rights ... or overcompensating for the persistent rumors. You be the judge. Watch the introduction and the performance with surprise guest Jennifer Hudson AFTER THE JUMP ...
