What an amazingly awesome woman! Such an inspiration! We light a candle and say your name, Dr. Maya Angelou!

Derrick from Philly

I had the joy of seeing/hearing at a speaking engagment Maya Angelou gave back in the 1990s. She was not only inspiring, but very entertaining.

But the most interesting memory she gave me was not about her. It was a chapter in her book "Heart of A Woman". She recounts her meeting with Billie Holiday. She tells us that Lady Day visited Maya and her little boy several times when they were living in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, Lady Day wasn't a very nice person at that point in her life (1958). But Maya Angelou was HONEST enough to give us an HONEST memory about Billie Holiday.

I'll always appreciate Dr Maya Angelou's HONESTY,

She was profound, and I enjoyed I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. She accomplished so much, and will be missed.

Rod, I agree. Her words and wisdom will live on.

This is just so sad and so tragic but it was her time. What an incredibly wise woman, so profound and full of dignity and grace. One of my greatest sheroes and inspirations.

Nice tribute btw Rod. Indeed her words and wisdom will live through the ages.

I have loved Maya since I was a youngster and have read everything available. She Created and lived a wonderful life filled with Love and wisdom that has inspired me until today.
Physically she may be gone but her Spirit with travel for a long time into the future, I am honored to have traveled for a while in this life time with her.
Maya went to Egypt and got a job in the 50's! Which was near impossible in those days, even today! Wow.
Rest our Queen, Thank you for all you have inspired me to accomplish!
